How we make our money
The commission we earn pays for the services that we provide to businesses. These include securing competitive tariffs, conducting price comparisons, handling processing tasks and delivering excellent customer service. Click on the products below for further details on how we earn on money on each individual product.
Clearsight Energy receives compensation (usually referred to as ‘commission’) from each business energy supplier on our panel when we introduce a customer to that supplier and the customer contracts to buy gas and/or electricity services and related offerings. Our commission continues when the contract is renewed. Commission is paid to us directly by the supplier and is included in the price that you pay to the supplier.
We always take your best interests fully into account when providing our advice but it may still be the case that your contract may not be the best available deal in the market for your business.
By agreeing to use our service, you are also agreeing to pay Clearsight Energy for the service by authorising the payment of commission by the supplier as follows:
- The commission is included in the unit cost of your energy by way of an uplift (see Energy Uplift Example below).
- The uplift that is included in the unit rate is in the range between 0.1p/kWh and 3p/kWh.
- Our commission constitutes only a small percentage of the total energy cost.
- Our online switching platform has a different commission structure (see below).
Energy Uplift Example
The supplier offers a unit rate of 33p/kWh, and Clearsight Energy adds 1.1p/kWh commission to the uplift. This creates a new unit rate of 34.1p/kWh which the customer will pay.
